Jack, you are growing up and do only big boy things now... like talking and singing our ears off, which we do not mind one bit. Your sense of humor is side splitting as you mislabel objects on purpose in a book just for a laugh, sing the words wrong in a song to be silly, and engage in the funniest pretend play I've ever seen. One of my favorites is your "banana man" scenario, which you have done on multiple occasions. One morning you took a piece of a banana and said, "Banana man walking in pumpkin patch," and you hopped the banana across the table. Then when you came to a piece of egg, you said, "picking a pumpkin," and you placed the egg on top of the banana and continued the banana dance across the table.
You still love to read books and you know just about every children's song there is to sing. I tried to think of a new one the other day to teach you and I couldn't come up with one. You adore looking at home movies of yourself and family. And you ask for this by bugging your Daddy, "Pictures Daddy? Pictures Daddy, right now?" One of your current favorite phrases is, "I'll be right back."
You weight nearly 33 pounds and are a solid 36" tall, the 90th percentile all around per your doctor, who tells us you are more like the size of a 2 1/2 or 3 year-old. You passed your 2 year check up with flying colors, and you didn't even cry during bloodwork and a shot. You were so taken with the blue band-aide to notice the pain I guess.
Mommy and Daddy woke you on Christmas Eve with balloons in hand and singing, "Happy Birthday." You were thrilled with such royal birthday treatment. Unfortunately, Deuce is terrified of balloons, especially the ones with helium in them, so he was not so fond of your birthday celebrations (not the mention all of the people and noise that soon followed on your big day).
Your birthday party was on Christmas Eve with all of your Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, and Great-grandparents. It was a packed house, but you loved all of the attention. Your cake was a farm theme (a la your Mother's attempts to be creative). We sang "Happy Birthday" to you not once, but twice per your request (we cut you off at two rounds), and you even blew out your birthday candles all by yourself. You received more wonderful toys than one child can possibly play with so I put several things away for you for later in the year. Our most precious gift to you on your birthday was sharing our news of your new title "BIG Brother."
