We are enjoying summer time with a toddler - playground trips, swimming, cookouts. Jack is really getting into swimming in the big pool. Nice shades Jack!

This is a large map of the United States painted on the school playground near our house. Jack likes to walk on it and stop and point to each color. He says "blue" and "purple," and Mommy and Daddy fill in the others. Jack knows all of his colors if you ask him for the red one for example, but he can't yet say them himself. The other picture is taken on the school grounds as well near sunset.

Jack has a killer personality and he is adding words to his vocabulary daily. The latest includes "no," (more on that to follow) and "Doc" (neighbor cat), "Dan" (Uncle Dan that is) and "I love you" (which is a very rough approximation at this point). He is obsessed with singing (still mostly the ABCs tune, but the other day he picked up a tune off the radio) and crayons. He has also started playing the game where he comes up to you and acts like he wants to give you whatever is in his hand. Then he whips around and goes the other way as if saying "I fooled you!"

Poor Jack has been dealing with a terribly sore bottom this entire week. Painful for Jack but even more stressful on his parents. Jack quickly learned the word "no" this week to communicate to us that he does not want to sit down in the bath tub, he does not like his diaper changed or medicine rubbed on his bottom. It likely started with something he ate that really irritated his skin. But we all know how much Jack eats, and the never ending elimination machine is making healing difficult.
We still love books and the blanket...
